Dear Dr. Friedman,

Last Friday I went to see my doctor for a routine exam. As she came into the room, she exclaimed, "Wow! You look half your age!" She then went on to quiz me about my diet and my exercise routine. To be sure, she hadn't seen me for a year and a half, but it never occurred to here that I'd had plastic surgery, and I didn't tell her either. I really think you did as perfect a job as could be done, and her reaction is a marvelous confirmation that you are a real artist at what you do. It looks so totally natural - thank you!

Your insistence on patients spending the first night after surgery in the hospital is on the reasons I selected you as my surgeon. It just made so much sense to me. I think that may be one reason why I had no pain through the entire process. And - I have a full bottle of unused pain pills as proof.

However, I am reserving my best thanks, and highest praise, for your consultation with my daughter. You were so kind, patient and honest with her in telling her that she did not need a face lift and that you could therefore not recommend that, even though that's what she thought she wanted. You took so much time with her, in spite of the late hour. I just wish every medical student in the country could have heard that conversation.

Carole is a researcher, so she questions everything and everybody. But once she determines what the facts are, even if they are not what she expected, she goes with it. So she is saving her money so that she can have you do an implant as soon as possible. In spite of your recommendation she is not at all convinced that anyone in Boston will do as good a job as you.

You'll remember that my reason for wanting a face lift was to disguise my age and get a better paying job, and as you know, it was a strategy that worked out beautifully: new face, new job, much higher pay.
